Missing tooth

Kenzie lost her first tooth July 10th 2010 but I didn't have a blog back then so the event wasn't documented. I decided that I would try to go back and do a few moments when I had the time. Here's how the story went:
Kenzie was home with her dad and watching TV before bed. She had been chewing on the throw cushion on the couch. She then went outside where Cory had been cutting the grass. He looked at her and said 'where is your tooth?' to which she replied 'I DON'T KNOW!!' I think a small amount of panic set in both of them as they frantically looked for the missing tooth. Cory said that he thought she had knocked it out prematurely and he was going to have to keep it in milk until emergency surgery could be performed. I got the phone call that the tooth was out, they had located it but what should they do now!
Holly: Was it one of the front teeth?
Cory: yes!
Holly: is it totally out?
Cory: yes!
Holly: Was there a little blood?
Cory: yes!
Holly: so one of the baby teeth has come out cleanly with no break?
Cory: YES!
Holly: Well then all is fine, she is getting older and her baby teeth are going to fall out.
Cory: silence

Poor Cory, in his beautiful world of denial where his little girl is never going to grown up, he is faced with the first tangible evidence in his hand, waiting to be put under her pillow, that she is no longer a baby.

The tooth fairy wrote Kenzie a nice letter and his assistant tape a toonie to the letter. The assistant put the letter in Kenzie's room but in the morning when Kenzie showed it to us I realized that the tooth fairy was a real softy and added another toonie to the letter. I guess when you loose your first tooth on Daddy's watch you get 4 bucks!!

The other note worthy part of this story is that Kenzie woke 3 times with nightmares that night worrying about the Tooth Fairy coming so we have decided that the tooth fairy will come to our house when she is at school from now on. She is much happier with that deal.

Not Shy at All!

The day finally arrived when Kaida could wear "THE DRESS". She was very excited and there was definitely full cooperation when it came time to get dressed for school today. The Pre K Christmas concert was Dec. 21st from 11:00am - 11:30am. Kaida had her Dad, Grampa Bedel and Grandma Cochrane come to her classroom to watch her performance. I was so proud of how well she did. She did not have a moment of hesitation or nervousness in her. She sang the songs and did the bird dance with grace and confidence. After the concert the families stayed for a light snack of muffins that Kaida and and I made and cheese and dessert. It was a very nice concert and a great way to prepare for the BIG concert at the high school in a couple of years. Good Job Kaida!!

Tony Chestnut Nose I Love You!

Kenzie had her Christmas Concert on Dec. 21st and did the best version of Tony Chestnut I have ever seen. She came home after school, had her hair curled and put on her 'fancy' dress. A dress I bought at a second hand store for $10. (She is NOT like her sister) All the Gramma's and Grampa's and even an Auntie Bev and Auntie Tami were there watching. Of the 500 people in the gym that night there was a solid 8 people who thought Kenzie was the cutest by far. The video is hard to see and hear but it doesn't really matter because I don't think I will ever forget the great smile on Kenzie's face as she belted out the words. She was really enjoying her concert, which is what is all about right?

She's off to the races!

Kenzie had her first day of Nancy Greene today. Her coach is Cathy McKay who is one of Cory's elite protege. I have captured the warm up game of tag but it was so cold out there I retreated to the Chalet quickly!
.

Kenzie managed to ski the entire 3 hours with just a couple of quick warm up breaks. She said she had a great time skiing today but wishes they could go on the chairlift. Today was just the assessment day and there are a couple of kids in her group who haven't skied before. After lessons it had warmed up a bit and Kenzie and I headed up the Chair lift 4 times and another 5 runs on the bunny hill. When I noticed the tip of her nose was white I told her it was time to quit for some Hot Chocolate. She said, "yah and my knees and legs are so tired I can't move them". Perfect time to call it a day!

THE Dress!!

I dressed Kaida for school one day but she was not happy with the outfit I chose.

She decided this was more her style.
Yes, this shirt is covered in sequined bling and those are silver metallic pants.

Kaida also needed to pick her own dress for the Christmas concert.  You can read about the experinence on my mom's blog http://www.jan1637.blogspot.com/ but I thought I would show you THE dress!
I love my little girl and all her style!

Bad Hair Day!

Sometimes the school has Bad Hair Days or Wacky Hair Days but Tuesday was not one of those days.  Check out Kenzie's hair by afterschool!
I for see some serious toque head this winter!

Toboganing Fun

We have been soooo busy having fun around here that I haven't taken the time to journal it all.  A couple of weeks ago Cory had a Friday off school in lieu of 2 nights of Parent Teacher interviews.  We spent the day outside as it was such a great day.  In my overzealous, impatient need for fun, I had everyone dressed and ready to toboggan by 10:30am.  The walking path was so full of snow that Cory and I were trudging through it pulling 80 pounds of kids behind us.  Actually, I was struggling and Cory was pulling.  I knew it was a hard go when Cory handed me the reins and said he needed a break.  I went a 1/4 of the way he did and handed them right back.  When we made it to PCTC hill we booted those kids out of the Toboggan and sent them hiking.  Kaida had complained the entire ride but I knew as soon as she got to the hill she would love it. She did!

Everyone had to have a turn 'driving'!  I didn't get a snapshot but the one time I was driving Cory and I twisted and tipped.  Kenzie thought that was really funny and Kaida was sweet enough to ask if we were ok.  Of course we were laughing so hard we couldn't answer her.

One more time and then we will start the trudge home for hot chocolate.   As we were sipping our warm beverage Mr. Grismer drove by with his snow blower and had totally cleaned out the walking path.  There was now a nice, hard packed trail from our house to PCTC.  I guess maybe we (I) shouldn't have been so impatient to get the fun started.
